We are pleased to bring you the TPI Blog, and we hope it has something of value to you!
The focus of the blog will be topics that we view as directly and indirectly related to trans empowerment and movement building. We see trans empowerment very intersectionally as including efforts to address marginalization broadly, as all marginalization is interrelated. Movement building encompasses not just encouragement to be and remain involved in empowerment efforts, but also sharing experiences and understanding about why various efforts are important.
This blog will also provide a more permanent and searchable home for information and discussions that had previously only been in our email newsletters.
The blog is organized around our work areas, and since most work is related to the prison support committee, most posts in the beginning will reflect that work. Posts will include information about the retributive carceral system and how it disproportionally impacts trans and queer persons; facts, opinions, and perspectives about carceral systems; vocabulary that s useful for persons writing letters to incarcerated persons; and discussions about restorative and transformative justice. Guest contributors, we hope, will include persons with expertise in these areas as well as persons currently serving sentences in these systems.
We hope we can live up to these expectations and provide a meaningful resources that pushes us all to learn and grow in our advocacy!
